Yoga and Ayurveda for Menstruation Workshop with Katie Manitsas
Friday 20th June 6pm – 8.30pm, $30 bookings essential
This workshop is open to yoga teachers and students who want to find out more about how to modify yoga practices during menstruation. Traditionally yoga is a practice that was developed by and for men, so it’s only in relatively recent times that we have had knowledge about how the practice can support or hinder a woman’s moon cycle.
In this workshop we will:
1) Do a guided practice together, suitable for when a woman is menstruating. This practice part of the workshop will last about 1 hour. 2) Discuss how yoga can impact a woman’s cycle leading to loss of menstruation or heavy menstruation and how we can adapt a practice to address these problems.
3) Investigate the effect of inversions during menstruation and discus why these poses are best avoided at this time (with particular reference to the subtle anatomy of a woman’s body).
4) Look at some simple (yet very effective) ways in which ayurveda can support a woman’s moon cycle. Katie teaches ayurveda according to the teachings of the Wise Earth School and will draw on ancient wisdom handed down to her from her teacher Swamini Mayatitananda (author of ‘Women’s Power to Heal’)
