Shiatsu with Sarah

Available Fridays from 10am till 9pm by appointment Shiatsu is a remarkable form of Japanese massage. If you are looking for an alternative form of health maintenance that is the perfect accompaniment to yoga, then shiatsu may be for you. Treatments are given on a futon mattress and you wear loose comfortable clothing. Not only is shiatsu incredible for soothing sore, tired muscles and aiding flexibility, it can also help calm the mind and enliven the spirit.

Traditional Chinese medical principles are observed during a detailed case history, which are then used to effect the treatment. Shiatsu can be extremely beneficial in the management of disharmonies within the following systems:

  • Musculo-skeletal – including strains, sprains & general soreness
  • Respiratory – including colds & flu, asthma, allergic rhinitis
  • Cardiovascular – hypertension, angina pectoris, intercostal neuralgia
  • Digestive – nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea, irritable bowel syndrome
  • Renal – urinary tract infections, chronic nephritis
  • Gynaecological – irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhoea, amenorrhoea
  • Neurological – managing the symptoms of stroke & hemiplegia, facial palsy
  • Mental-emotional – stress, depression, anxiety, insomnia
  • Headache & migraine, dizziness, palpitations

Chavutti Foot Massage with Lynda

Chavutti is a powerful oil massage principally applied with the bare foot. Using the foot like a hand, the practitioner applies long sweeping movements that cover the full length of the body in one stroke applying continuous deep pressure, ironing out the spine.

Thai Chavutti is a unique massage therapy which combines the benefits of two ancient healing arts. It begins with traditional Thai Yoga Massage stretches which open and relax the body and moves on to massage the body with warm oil using the foot.

The therapist channels energy through his or her feet, pushing out toxins by way of the long strokes, via the skin.

Chavutti works incredibly well in conjunction with a yoga practice as it lengthens muscles and remove blockages. Consecutive treatments provide a continuity and intensity that are needed to create deep detoxification as well as more profound and lasting changes in thought patterns, emotional responses and body posture, $80 for 1 hour 20 mins.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a holistic treatment which activates and supports the body's natural healing mechanisms. Over 4000 years old, it has developed into a modern and well recognised complementary therapy which works by applying pressure to points on the feet, hands and ears that are related to specific systems of the body.

Reflexology works by restoring the body's natural energy circuits, restoring balance and promoting a feeling of relaxation and well-being, $70 for 1 hour.

Private Yoga Classes

A private yoga class is a wonderful way to tailor your own practice. It allows the space for injuries to be worked with and the poses to be modified exactly to suit your needs. It also is a way of challenging and fine tuning your body. The skills you develop by working one on one with a teacher are invaluable for your practice in a group and your personal yoga journey. Many of the teachers here at Samadhi offer their skills for private classes.
Our teachers have a wide range of interests and each focus on specific areas. These range from focusing on meditation, to working with specific illness using the tools of yoga, helping you understand a physical limitation or just more deeply understand your experience of the practice. You can simply talk to the teacher after your class, or you can visit or call Jess or Sarah in the office on 9517 3280 for a recommendation of the appropriate teacher for you. Private Yoga classes start at $65 for the hour, and can be arranged at the Samadhi studio or in your home or another setting to suit.
