WHAT IS PRANA?

a Jivamukti yoga workshop
with Katie Manitsas
Friday 19th Sept 6pm–8pm, $20

Often translated as ‘life force’ prana is a Sanskrit word that describes the energy that sustains all living beings.  Prana is like the flow of electricity, it can be harnessed (so it becomes useful) or wild like static (which really doesn’t serve our goal as yogis to find happiness and freedom). As practitioners of yoga we want to become a bright light so that we can reflect light to others and illuminate all that we come into contact with.  By developing our ability to recogonise and harness the prana that is within us and around us at all times we can begin this magical journey.  In this workshop we will use various practices to work with prana including dynamic flowing asana (the physical postures of yoga), pranayama (breathing practices) and chanting.

‘Rub your hands together until you feel vibration.  This is prana.  Lift your hands feeling the pulsation.’ Shri Brahmananda Saraswati
