Workshop for yoga teachers

Chanting first Sunday of every month

Timetable effective from June 2008, prices effective from July 1st 2007.

All our classes are casual (except the beginners course) and are $16 unless specified otherwise. You can also buy an 8 class pass for $108 - you can get this at your first class. All classes are 1.15 hour or 1 hour for the $5.50 classes.

Please note Samadhi yoga is a shoes and mobile free zone.  Please arrive 15 minutes early for your first class so you can register.

Class descriptions
Yoga
These classes are mixed level hatha based flowing vinjasa. This means that your movements are linked with your breath as each pose flows onto the next. For beginners it is strongly recommended that you attend any of the beginners courses or drop in classes or Yoga 1 before they attend mixed level classes, the 8am classes can get epically busy and are therefor not suitable for beginners.

Yoga 1
A mixed level class for those wanting a slightly gentler practice. These classes are hatha based flowing vinjasa, this means that your movements are linked with your breath as each pose flows onto the next. Please note these classes can be quite busy so come early! (Although beginners are welcome to come to yoga 1 classes, we always suggest that you come to a Beginners class first at least once as these classes are big and there is nothing worse then feeling overwhelmed at your first yoga class!)
Mon - Fri 12pm $5.50

Yoga 2
A mixed level but slightly more dynamic practice that will explore more challenging variations. These classes are hatha based flowing vinyasa , this means that your movements are linked with your breath as each pose flows onto the next. (please note these classes can be quite busy so come early!)
Mon - Fri 1.15pm $5.50

Beginners Course
Learn the fundamentals step by step, suitable for brand new beginners or anyone who wants to brush up on the basics! This is an 8 week course with handouts each week.
Tuesdays 7.30pm, Thursdays 7.30pm (courses run in 8 week cycles, please contact us for start dates) $108

Beginners level 2
For those who have been to beginners classes and fancy something a little more challenging but don't quite feel ready to move up to a mixed level class. Beginners level 2 builds on the foundations of our beginners courses. Also suitable if you are coming back to yoga after a break.
Mondays and Wednesdays 7.30pm

Jivamukti Intermediate Yoga
Jivamukti Yoga is an inspiring style founded by Sharon Gannon and David Life in New York City, emphasising the goal of Yoga as liberation. The Jivamukti method is one of 9 internationally recognised styles of Hatha Yoga and we are very glad to be able to offer it here at Samadhi. The 5 tenets of Jivamukti Yoga are Scripture, Bhakti (devotion), Ahimsa (non-violence), Nada Yoga (exploring sacred sound) and Meditation. The classes are dynamic vinyasa incorporating yogic philosophy, spiritual activism and chanting. Taught by certified Jivamukti Yoga teachers Katie Manitsas, Richard Allen and Sarah Trestrail.
Mondays 6pm, Wednesdays 7.30pm, Sundays 10am

Mummy and Me
Recommended age 6 weeks to pre-crawling. As mothers we are always doing the best we can. As women we need to learn our best is always good enough.
A class for mums to attend with their babies. A typical session includes baby stretches to take small bodies through a full range of movements and postures-for-two which give mums and babies a new way to relate to each other. The main focus is on post-natal yoga, providing an excellent route to post-natal recovery in a way that is safe, gentle and energising for tired mums. The class also provides a wonderful opportunity to meet other new mums and share tea afterwards.

Toddlers Yoga
Recommended age group 18 months to 3 years old.
This class is for mums (and dads) and their little one, it is a fun and interactive one hour class with songs, yoga games and even some relaxation! These classes help to develop children's fine and gross moter skills as well as learning some yoga moves. Sarah Owen is a qulified Primary School teacher and also includes yogic teachings like being kind to everyone in the classes. These classes also give mums a chance to meet and sometimes even do some yoga! The classes are designed to be free form and respond to what the children need at the time. Friday 10am $11 (for mum and child)

Kids Yoga
Recommended age group Kindy to Year 2.  Yoga helps children stay supple and healthy from a young age.  It’s a great form of exercise because it’s not competitive and it encourages participation rather than winning.  The classes are fun and lighthearted. David completed his teacher training at Samadhi Yoga (he is trained in both kids yoga and yoga for grown ups!).  Mondays 4.30pm $11 per child.

Kundalini
Until fairly recently the secrets of Kundalini yoga were closely guarded. In 1969 this powerful and transforming yoga was brought to the west by guru Yogi Bhajan. Kundalini yoga is a vigorous form of yoga suitable for all levels. The class uses mantra, breath, dynamic posture, and meditation. The Kundalini yoga tradition is based on the chakras (or energy wheels) in the body. Kundalini yoga offers a physical, mental and spiritual program that provides a simple guide to living in health, peace and harmony.
Tuesdays  6pm, Thursdays 6pm, Saturdays 12.30 pm
‘The moment you feel that you are part of infinity and that infinity is a part of you, your limitations will cease and happiness will follow’ Yoga Bhajan.

Meditation and Pranayama
Meditation and Pranayama (breathing practices) are an important part of overall yoga practice. Come and work on your mind and breath, as well as body.
Saturdays 10am $5.50

Chanting
Chanting traditional mantras and bhajans (devotional 'songs') is a wonderful way of lifting your spirits and opening your heart. You don't have to be a great singer to enjoy chanting. We teach very simple chants that everyone can follow. Come and have fun - if you have a musical instrument or talent bring it along!
First Sunday of the month 7:30pm entry by donation.

Restorative Yoga
A gentle practice that will leave you feeling uplifted and relaxed.  A great way to balance your yoga practice. In restorative yoga you will hold poses for longer, relaxing into a pose in order to release parts of the body that hold emotional and physical tension. Good for those recovering from injury or just wishing for a gentle practice on that day.Wednesday 6pm, Friday 7.30pm

Rejuvenating Yoga
These flowing and gentle classes are designed to energise and relax. Perfect if you are feeling rundown or are recovering from an injury or even to balance to a dynamic practice.  A practice that invites fresh energy to uplift the mind, body and spirit without a dynamic physical aspect. Using techniques like yoga nidra, meditation, yin postures, breathing practices and a gentle approach to asana you will leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. All levels of yoga experience welcome! Monday and Wednesday at 10am

Sadhana
The sanskrit term for conscious spiritual practice, is known in the yogic texts as having the power to relieve existing conditions (be they physical, mental, emotional and/or spiritual), as the key to spiritual realisation and inner peace. The early hours of the morning are the most powerful time of the day to positively influence and effect how we feel for the whole day, as well as balancing and strengthening the chakras, building intuition, sharpness, dignity and grace.
Everyone welcome. There is no cost, this is our gift to you.
First Wednesday of the month at 5am
