Acupressure and Pregnancy workshop with Rebecca Mar Young
Sunday 22nd February 2.30pm-5pm $65 per person or $120 per couple
Learn natural & effective pain relief techniques for childbirth using ACUPRESSURE
Would you and your birth support partner (husband, sister, mum, doula, friend) like to know some acupressure points you could press to substantially decrease pain during labour? Encourage the baby to turn if it is in a posterior position? Encourage labour to progress when it has stopped? Decrease nausea? Calm the mind? Help to promote efficient lactation? If the answer is yes to even one of these questions, then this workshop is a must for you and your birth support partner (as they will be the one’s helping you!)
In this workshop you will develop an understanding of where the acupressure points are, how best to put the appropriate amount of pressure on them, when to use them and for how long. You & your partner will come away with valuable tools to effectively assist a natural labour. You will also receive a booklet with pictures of where all the points are and info on what they do for the big day, which has been written and developed by midwife and acupuncturist Debra Betts.
What a husband had to say: “At first I was very cynical about acupressure’s ability to relieve the pain of childbirth, but as soon as my partner’s contractions began, it was obvious that this was really effective. She almost seemed to enjoy the contractions, as long as I was pressing very hard indeed on the right spots and not letting up for an instant. This was also the ideal way for me to feel fully involved in the birth and not get too panicky. We had a trouble-free labour and birth and we now have a beautiful, healthy, happy son.” Mark Derby, Wellington.
Who will benefit? Pregnant women, their partner, anyone who wants to learn more about how to support a woman in labour such as doulas, midwives, yoga teachers, mums, sisters and friends of the pregnant woman.
